Look Cool with Look Human

I was browsing my Facebook feed when I came across a post from a friend saying that she “may have gone a little overboard” on the Look Human website. The image she shared pictured assorted tank tops with sassy phrases like “Trick or Treat Yo Self,” “Thick Thighs Save Lives” and “On Wednesdays, We Lift.” Instantly amused, I clicked through to the website to discover hundreds of tees, tanks, sweatshirts, phone cases, mugs and tote bags, all fun and culturally relevant.

Look Human describes itself as an online store for “individuals who refuse to be tamed.” This is a resource for those of us who become excited by the thought of wearing a meme or funny statement and laughing at others, or even ourselves. The pieces can serve as a conversation starter.

The site offers the same item in a variety of colors, styles and sizes ranging from extra small to extra large. Most options are under $35. This may appeal to:

  1. The person who wants to be festive on Halloween without wearing a costume.

Saks Steps It Up for Cinderella Fans

There is no fairytale more classic than “Cinderella,” the story of a plucky heroine captivating Prince Charming, reinventing her destiny from rags to riches and proving those who doubted her wrong. On Friday, Walt Disney Studios and Motion Pictures bring us the movie, starring Downton Abbey’s Lily James, Game of Thrones’ Richard Madden, Cate Blanchett and Helena Bonham Carter. To celebrate the release, Saks and nine of its prestigious designers bring fashionable girls glass slippers for the modern day Cinderella.

The department store has partnered with Jimmy Choo, Stuart Weitzman, Salvatore Ferragamo, Charlotte Olympia, Paul Andrew, Nicholas Kirkwood, René Caovilla, Jerome C. Rousseau and Alexandre Birman to design their interpretation of what Cinderella would wear today. All incorporate elements that resemble glass or shine. Some include both.

You can see “the slippers” on display at Saks 5th Avenue’s 10022-SHOE, its shoe department that’s so extensive, it has its own zip code. They are also at the Bal Harbour location.

As a girl who dreamed of her own fairytale ending, evidenced by this photo from Halloween 1995, I was excited to see the shoes up close. The catch is that they’re enclosed in glass classes, and you can’t try them on. Prices vary – up to $4,000, and a deposit is required. They’re made to order, so you’ll have to trust that your Fairy Godmother gets the size right.

The Art of Healing: J. Crew’s Designer Band-Aids

J. Crew and Johnson & Johnson have teamed up to create stylish, playful Band-Aids that make covering up your boo-boos fun at any age. I got my annual flu shot this week and chose the light pink and green Band-Aid from the new collection.

It illustrates “Je t’aime” in cursive with a small star. The script Romance language makes a subtly sweet expression, and the apostrophe is even drawn as a heart.

J Crew

If you prefer to be more obvious about seeking some extra love, you could opt for the “HUG ME” version. Other Band-Aids from this box, which is technically from the kids line, are decorated with hearts, lightening bolts, a camouflage pattern and racecar. Depending on your mood, you can be a hero or get the extra compassion you need.

The box from the adult line does not include words or shapes, but rather patterns in different color schemes. Each Band-Aid incorporates two or more of the following colors – black, white, blue, pink and green. The arrangements resemble a hybrid of styles from Murakami and Andy Warhol – beautiful geometric designs in alternating colors.

You can purchase the Band-Aids in stores, on JCrew.com, or at your local pharmacy. Each box is $5 and comes with 3-inch and 2.5-inch Band-Aids.

How to Dress Your Child Like a Kardashian

If the Kardashians know two things best, it’s fashion and babies. With Kourtney’s third child on the way, I can’t wait to see what he or she will be wearing.

Today, in the midst of New York Fashion Week, Kardashian Kids, which is sold at Babies “R” Us nationwide, announced that it is launching a toddlers collection on September 19th.

After hearing the news, I had to check out the existing children’s collection! I learned that it is both adorable and affordable.

As for my top picks:

All photos are courtesy of Babies “R” Us and Kardashian Kids

  • Faux Black Leather Flaired Skirt ($18.98) – available for newborns to 24-months-old

  • White Sleeveless Woven Dress ($25.98) – available for newborns to 24-months-old

  • Black Biker Jacket ($25.98) – available for 3-months- to 24-months-old

  • Pink Leopard Printed Cotton PJs ($24.99) – available for newborns to 9-months-old

PJsThe skirt and jacket even come with a diaper cover.

A Babies “R” Us representative let me know that the new Fall collection will include the debut of the new toddler sizing up to 5T, as well as must-have hoodies, a black woolen coat with signature faux fur trim and a precious quilted dress with intricate details. Could this sound any “Kuter”?

Ten Reasons to Customize Your Hanky Panky Underwear

I love my Hanky Panky thongs. They don’t reveal panty lines when you are wearing a form-fitting skirt or pants. They’re extremely comfortable. You can also customize your lacey Hanky Panky thongs, as well as other styles. Here’s how:

When ordering on the website, select the style and color, and choose the letters, numbers or symbols you prefer. I’m a fan of the heart, exclamation mark and smiley face. :-)

They’ll print as rhinestones off to the side in between your pelvis and hip. A customized Hanky Panky bottom also makes the perfect gift. There are many opportunities to create special and unique undies. Some suggestions:

  1. Your friend is getting married. BRIDE. TAKEN.
  2. Valentine’s Day. <3. XOXO.
  3. In honor of your favorite sports team. For me, this would be ‘CUSE in orange.
  4. For a vacation. ALOHA + the pineapple symbol.
  5. You’re feeling cheeky. DIVA + star symbol. PARTY.
  6. To show off your nickname. STEPH.
  7. To celebrate your nationality or religion. BRIT. L’CHAIM.
  8. For your favorite holiday. MERRY. BOO!
  9. To send positive vibes. LOVE. DREAM.
  10. It’s your bestie’s birthday (this could be her initials, BFF, or an inside joke!), if you know this is up her…alley.

*Note, there are no apostrophes on the actual panties.
